Group Therapy
Maxcy facilitates a number of ongoing groups, including mindfulness-based group, anxiety support group, depression support group. and an eating disorder support group. Please inquire about current groups.
Anxiety Support Group
This is a group for individuals who want to stop feeling so alone in their struggles with anxiety, obsessive or compulsive thoughts and actions. Group members receive support from others dealing with similar experiences. This also can be an addition for those who want extra support outside of individual therapy. Some of the topics covered will include ways to decrease anxiety or unhelpful behaviours, ways to disengage from the trap of anxiety or obsessions, how to tolerate uncertainty better and how to enhance self care and a healthy sense of self.
Eating Disorder Support
Join our compassionate and supportive eating disorder group, specifically designed for those facing challenges with yo-yo dieting, binge eating, or bulimia. Our group combines psychoeducation with open discussions, guided by the CBT-ED (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders) method. Together, we'll explore and address the underlying issues that perpetuate disordered eating, such as thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. We focus on healing the relationship with food, overcoming compulsive habits, understanding body dysmorphia, and managing the over-evaluation of shape and weight. Our aim is to provide a safe, respectful, and confidential space for personal growth and healing. Join us in this courageous step towards a healthier and more balanced life.
